Broncos Day 1 - Undrafted FA

Well it has begun, I will try to update this and keep everyone as up-to-date as possible.

Broncos informed RB Correll Buckhalter of his release - from Rotoworld.com
FOX 31 Denver's Josina Anderson suggests Buckhalter could return at a lesser salary than the $1.92 million he was due, but we doubt it. Going on age 33, Buckhalter petered out with a career-worst 2.49 yards-per-carry average last season. It's not out of the question that the former Eagle's NFL career is over.

Rutgers cornerback Brandon Bing announced via his Twitter that he’s going to be a Bronco. Jason Baum, Rutgers Associate Athletic Director for Communications at Rutgers University (read: Sports Information Director), also Tweeted the same. Update, 9:35 p.m.: Other players whose names have been linked to the Broncos include Kansas cornerback Chris Harris (who wrote it on his Twitter page); Michigan cornerback James Rogers; Miami fullback Patrick Hill; Toledo tight end Justin Jones; and Ohio State guard Bryant Browning. - from DP.com

NT Ian Williams agreed to go to the 49ers.

10:38pm ET - According to @NFLDraftInsider, the Broncos have agreed to terms with undrafted rookies RB Mario Fannin from Auburn, FB Patrick Hill from Miami and WR Mark Dell from Michigan State, G Bryant Browning from Ohio State, LB Nick Bellore of Central Michigan, and DE Deron Mayo from Old Dominion, younger brother of Pats LB Jerod. According to @NEPatriotsDraft Denver has also signed WR Marshall Williams from Wake Forest, TE Justin Jones from Toledo and CB James Rogers from Michigan, and DT Colby Whitlock of Texas Tech. Rutgers CB Brandon Bing says he's also agreed to join the Broncos, so does Kansas DB Chris Harris. According to @Ethanhamm, Denver has also added OT Curt Porter out of Jacksonville State. - from IAOFM.com, Rotoworld now saying the same thing on RB Fannin.

Looks like the Broncos have begun to make moves. ~ Aussie.

Broncos Day 2 - Signed UDFA and Players return

Well here we go with more news, I will try to update throughout the day when more news comes...

Broncos seem to be adding Minnesota QB Adam Weber, former teammate of Eric Decker.

Final list of UDFA that have agreed to be with the Broncos:

CB Brandon Bing, Rutger
WR Mark Dell, Michigan State
RB Mario Fannin, Auburn
WR Jamel Hamler, Fresno State
CB Chris Harris, Kansas
FB Patrick Hill, Miami
TE Justin Jones, Utah
LB Deron Mayo, Old Dominion
OT Curt Porter, Jacksonville State
CB James Rogers, Michigan
QB Adam Weber, Minnesota
DT Colby Whitlock, Texas Tecvh
WR Marshall Williams, Wake Forest

Looks like G Bryant Browning, who was originally reported as agreeing with Denver, but ultimately he chose to join the St. Louis Rams.

Nick Bellore is apparently headed to the Jets instead of Denver.

FB Patrick Hill has decided to join the Titans instead of the Broncos (thanks Digger).

Miller said he’s eager to be Robin to Dumervil’s Batman. But what about Ayers and Weapon X?

Weight watchers, Knowshon lost a few, as did Vickerson. But Doom has put on weight.

About 20 players at Dove Valley in first 90 minutes. Tim Tebow among first players to arrive at Dove Valley.

Orton is on the trading block, with interest from Arizona & Miami. And now also the Titans. Don't expect Orton to be traded until Hasselbeck is signed, the loser for his services will want Orton.

Miller doesn't want to miss any camp time by holding out.

Charles Johnson resigns with the Panthers. The Broncos were apparently in on the bidding for his services.

According to NFP's Aaron Wilson, Willis McGahee is interested in possibly joining the Broncos. ESPN's Adam Schefter confirms the interest between Willis McGahee and the Broncos is mutual. McGahee is eying Denver, and the Broncos apparently view him as a fallback option if they lose out on DeAngelo Williams.

Broncos training camp has been set. Check the webpage here or the blog page for details.

Reports Veteran LB Paul Posluszny agreed to terms on a six-year deal with the Jaguars, a league source said Tuesday. That is a bummer, I personally was hoping we would go after Posluszny, he is a solid LB that could have helped the corps greatly.

Broncos pushing to re-sign Marcus Thomas, as reported by DP.com

Also Kevin Kolb is still the Cardinals' top choice, according to the Arizona Republic. The Cardinals also had trade discussions Tuesday with the Broncos about Kyle Orton and expressed interest in both Matt Hasselbeck and Marc Bulger. But now that they have the leverage against the Eagles, they can hold out for the deal they want. The Republic says the Cardinals are 'willing to part with starting cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, but the two sides apparently can't agree on other parts of the deal.' The Eagles likely want a first- or second-round pick in addition to DRC. Lets wait and see what happens.

Redskins agreed to terms with DT Barry Cofield on a six-year contract. So he is now off our list, also heard the Seahawks are trying hard to resign DT Mebane so we may yet again miss out on DTs.

This was on ESPN, 'I hear the Broncos are clearing cap room and want to be players for key defenders.' That is good news, but the Broncos have yet to be seen in FA.

Stay tuned for more to come. ~ Aussie

Broncos Day 3 - Signing Draft picks, Free Agents, Trades and more

Here we go again with another crazy day, as before I will do my best to update throughout the day.

DeAngelo Williams will remain with the Panthers, NFL Network's Michael Lombardi reported, receiving a new deal worth $43 million over five years with $21 million guaranteed.

FOX Sports' Jay Glazer reports the Seahawks have agreed to terms with Sidney Rice on a five-year contract, $41 million contract.

According to Klis, the Broncos and Dolphins have been 'feverishly working on' the Orton trade, and only a new contract is left, not that that's a trifling detail. The Broncos' players, including Orton, have left the building for lunch and will be back for John Fox's opening meeting at the top of the hour. Klis figures that Orton will not be among the attendees. - IAOFM.com

Hearing that the only hold up in the Orton to Fins deal is Orton signing a new contract, from twitter through IAOFM.com.

According to the Denver Post, a Kyle Orton trade was no longer 'imminent' as of late Wednesday night. Orton attended morning and evening meetings at Broncos headquarters, and the team expects him back for the first training camp workout Thursday. The Miami Herald is reporting that Orton's camp is still in talks with multiple teams, including the Broncos, and that a trade would involve 'many moving parts.' Orton will restructure his contract as part of a deal, and he could be waiting for the Cardinals situation to finalize.

Mike Lombardi says the Broncos are competing with St. Louis, Seattle, and one unnamed team in the Brandon Mebane sweepstakes.

According to Adam Schefter, the Broncos have dealt WR Jabar Gaffney to Washington in return for DE Jeremy Jarmon. Jarmon was a third-round pick out of Kentucky by the Redskins in the 2009 supplemental draft and has played in 16 games over the past two seasons (starting one). Meanwhile, Mike Lombardi says the Broncos would have cut Gaffney had they been unable to trade him. Gaffney's departure should mean more playing time for second-year receiver Eric Decker and increases the likelihood that either Matthew Willis or Britt Davis will stick around.

The Broncos are planning to bring in St. Louis right end Daniel Fells on Friday in an attempt to sign him. - ESPN.com

Complete list of Undrafted FA on DenverPost.com, check it out here, also has more information on each player.

The Broncos have shown interest in free agent S Eric Smith. The Jets are also working to re-sign him. Denver is loaded to the brim at safety, so that wouldn't seem like a particularly desirable landing spot for Smith. The Broncos just drafted their safety tandem of the future in FS Rahim Moore and SS Quinton Carter. Brian Dawkins is also supposedly coming back. - Rotoworld.com

Broncos placed WR Demaryius Thomas (Achilles tendon surgery) on the non-football injury list. No surprise here. It's just a procedural move so that Thomas will be eligible for the list into the season. After undergoing his surgery in March, Thomas is unlikely to be ready to play before Thanksgiving at best.

Broncos signed No. 204 overall pick TE Virgil Green to a four-year, $2.16 million contract. One of the most physically impressive tight ends in the draft, Green was also highly productive at Nevada. He slipped to the seventh round due to a four-year old knee injury. Expected to man the 'move' tight end role in Denver, Green will make a more immediate impact than fourth-rounder Julius Thomas. Yeah first one in the books!

IAOFM.com says Draft choices Julius Thomas and Mike Mohamed have been signed along with Virgil Green. Broncos still finalizing contracts of our other picks. Rotoworld now confirming that, Mohamed and Thomas are now signed as Broncos. 3 down, more still to come. Check out Elway's twitter for more.

Broncos signed No. 247 overall pick Jeremy Beal to a four-year contract. Beal was an incredibly productive pass rusher at Oklahoma, but scouts believe he lacks the athleticism to last in the pros despite all his domination of the Big 12 conference. Beal will have to fight for a reserve role as a rookie. 4 down.

The Broncos have also expressed interest in Miami’s Tony McDaniel. The Broncos are also still negotiating with their own Marcus Thomas. - DP.com

Free agent DT Daniel Muir is reportedly drawing interest from the Broncos and Rams. Not exactly consolation for losing out on Brandon Mebane. The Broncos are interested in seemingly every defensive tackle available, so their inclusion is no surprise. Muir is more of a rotational tackle than starter-caliber.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch concedes that it 'doesn't appear likely' free agent DT Brandon Mebane will sign with the Rams. The Rams are said to be concentrating on defense, but the Broncos and Seahawks have been more aggressive on Mebane. The 26-year-old is expected to get 'expensive' before deciding on a team.

The Broncos also made one of their first calls of free agency to Cowboys defensive end Stephen Bowen. Bowen has been durable in his career having played 16 games in three of the last four seasons and 14 in the fourth one. He’s also 27 and may be able to play both inside and outside in the Broncos’ scheme. The Broncos have tried to get Bowen to commit to a visit, but he’s a popular target and will be difficult for the Broncos to land. So it is official, if you are a DT the Broncos need you haha.

Stayed tuned for more throughout the day as more news comes ~ Aussie.

Broncos Day 4 - Training Camp, Signings and hopefully Trades

First day of Training camp begins and all rookies are now signed. Lets check out the news...

According to the Arizona Republic, the Cardinals identified Kevin Kolb as their quarterback priority due to concerns about Kyle Orton on third downs and in the red zone. Orton finished at the bottom of the pack in passer rating in both situations, usually a sign of poor arm strength and questionable decision-making. The Cardinals believe Orton has proven to be a mediocre starter, more of a place-holder than a solution. It's quite possible that Kevin Kolb will have similar issues of his own.

Broncos signed No. 45 overall pick S Rahim Moore to a four-year contract.

Broncos signed No. 108 overall pick Quinton Carter to a four-year, $2.49 million contract. Carter is coming off an All-America selection after a fantastic season at Oklahoma. More of a long-term NFL prospect, he'll likely start out on special teams behind veterans Brian Dawkins and Renaldo Hill.

Broncos agreed to terms with No. 2 overall pick OLB Von Miller on a four-year, $21 million contract. The rookie salary system has taken all of the drama out of the early first-round signings. The good news is that prolonged holdouts will soon be vestigial -- even the notoriously slow moving Bengals have their top pick in the bag. Widely considered the most explosive edge rusher in the draft, Miller is expected to step right into the starting strong-side job in coach John Fox's defense.

The Rams have begun talks with free agent DT Justin Bannan. The Rams and Broncos appear to be in on the same defensive tackles. St. Louis isn't considered a serious contender for Brandon Mebane, so Bannan could be a fallback option.

According to ESPN's John Clayton, a Kyle Orton 'won't happen' until the Broncos get a better offer. 'That could still happen,' says Clayton, 'but they will keep him for now.' The Broncos are trying salvage decent value for Orton when it's widely believed they could end up releasing him and going with Tim Tebow as the starter. We'll find out if the Dolphins have legitimate interest in Vince Young after all.

The Miami Herald suggests the Kyle Orton 'stare-down' could last until August 4, when teams must get under the salary cap. The Dolphins know that the market for Orton has dried up, eliminating all of the Broncos' leverage. So Denver goes out and makes Orton the first-team quarterback Thursday, a likely bluff to get Miami to blink. The Dolphins reportedly have some restructuring of their own to do before bringing in Orton, so this is going to take a little time. We still think he'll end up Miami and Tim Tebow will be Denver's starter.

Update: Eagles agreed to terms with QB Vince Young on a one-year contract. The Dolphins have reportedly touched base with free agent Matt Moore as a fallback option in case the Broncos don't come around on Kyle Orton. To me it looks like the Broncos wanted to much for Orton, say a second. Dolphins said well we can get Young. Young now has signed with the Eagles. The Dolphins still trying to cover they buff have looked at Moore. But Moore is a big down grade over Orton. Expect the two sides to agree on a trade. I still say a 3rd that esclates to a 2nd (say if Orton throws 4000 yards) would be good.

Kyle Orton was the first-team quarterback as the Broncos opened training camp practice on Thursday. Tim Tebow, the Broncos' likely Week 1starter, was second string. Brady Quinn worked with the threes and undrafted rookie Adam Weber was on the fourth team. The Broncos are still in trade talks about Orton, so it's surprising that they let him practice. If Orton blew out an ACL and needed to go on injured reserve, all of his nearly $9M in salary and bonuses would be guaranteed.

Broncos FS Renaldo Hill was not present as the team began training camp practices on Thursday. The beat writers believe Hill has been released. It's also possible that the Broncos gave him permission to seek a trade, although that would result in Hill's eventual release as well. The 32-year-old is due a $2.4 million base salary this season. The Broncos plucked two promising safeties in the draft.

Broncos signed No. 67 overall pick Nate Irving to a four-year contract. Working in Irving's favor is his athleticism and the weakness in the middle of the Broncos' defense. Working against him is John Fox's age-old refusal to start rookies. Fox did do it with Jon Beason in Carolina, which makes us think he may move Irving along quickly as well. The former North Carolina State star and Bill Parcells favorite will battle veteran Joe Mays.

Broncos signed No. 46 overall pick RT Orlando Franklin to a four-year, $4.35 million contract. The Broncos love Franklin's potential as a mauling run blocker, but he's considered a work in progress in pass protection. That could be a rookie-season issue as he guards Tim Tebow's blindside.

ESPN's John Clayton reports that the Broncos are holding out for a second- or third-round pick in a Kyle Orton trade. Clayton suggested the Dolphins have yet to meet that demand, instead offering a 'four or a five.' The Fins have blown so many second-round draft picks on quarterbacks in recent years (Pat White, John Beck, Chad Henne) that we're a bit surprised they wouldn't want to shore up the QB spot with a top-15 NFL passer like Orton. They're also working on a Reggie Bush deal, of course.

He said his current expectation is to be the Broncos’ starter. “I expect to be here,” Orton said. “I expect to be the starter here and go out there and play the best football of my career.”

Mays is the starting MLB....for now. - DenverPost.com

Heap of photos from the first practice, click here.

Quinn also had the first day's best line. Asked if there was any tension between Orton and Tebow, Quinn said: 'Look, if you're going to ask questions about football, ask questions about football. I'm not here to talk about anyone's relationship status. Save that for Twitter or Facebook or some message board.'

Orton looks better than Tebow in practice, well who would have thought, he is a veteran of 4 season and Tebow a few games. Lets see what happens in August (if Orton is still here).

The Broncos will host DL Jason Hatcher for a free agent visit on Friday. The Cowboys already lost Stephen Bowen to the division rival Redskins, and they're in danger of missing out on Hatcher, too. Dallas' third free agent defensive end, Marcus Spears, is drawing scant interest on the market. It appears the Cowboys' pursuit of Cullen Jenkins is costing them players. In Denver, the 6-foot-6, 311-pound Hatcher would likely move to tackle.

Klis confirms that DT Derek Landri will be visiting the Broncos tomorrow.

How are these for classic Bill Belichick moves? This morning, he traded a fifth-rounder for Albert Haynesworth, and now he's dealt a late 2012 pick and a late 2013 pick for Chad Johnson.

Sacco says the Irving deal is not quite done yet, and why wasn't Rahim Moore already in town?!

Renaldo Hill, wasn’t at practice today. Head Coach John Fox said after the session that Hill was absent due to dehydration. Demaryius Thomas walked onto the field late in the session, posting up on the sideline as he watched his teammates run through practice. He posted on Twitter this morning that it’s “time to get work in…mentally.“

'The last drill of practice had Assistant Special Teams Coach Keith Burns bouncing a soccer ball near the goal line. One player’s job was to leap in the air and tip the ball without stepping into the end zone, and another had to field it inside the 5-yard line and avoid a touchback. That created plenty of laughs, and a light-hearted argument from Perrish Cox when it was ruled he stepped on the line. “I wasn’t in!” he protested.'..... :P

Robert Ayers was back to wearing No. 56 in the afternoon session. He was wearing 91 in the morning session, but Fields (A former player) took expectation to this. When Fields is officially released Ayers will get his number. I was wrong, as per DP.com, Ayers said Thursday evening that the folks at Reebok told him that he would have to pay a large amount of money to switch numbers now because of remaining inventory of his No. 56 jerseys. Ayers said Reebok told him one figure yesterday, a number he was OK with, and then a different — and much larger — figure Thursday afternoon. Ayers is hoping to work out a deal with Reebok that will allow him to make the switch to No. 91 — the number he wore in college — this year. Worst case, he makes the switch in 2012, when the league makes the switch to Nike apparel.

From what I heard sounds like practice is going well. ~ Aussie.

Broncos Report - Training Camp, Injuries and FA signings

Today went from ok, to bad, to worse, back to ok as news flitered out from Dove Valley. Check it out below.

The Denver Broncos have made their first splash in the free agent market, reportedly coming to terms with free agent running back Willis McGahee on a 3-year contract. According to Pro Football Talk, the deal is worth $7.5 million with $3 million guaranteed. Jason LaConfora, however, tweeted moments later that there wasn't an agreement with McGahee. There's some confusion on the McGahee front. Checked with more sources and told no deal with DEN. Team likely to workout RBs this weekend. Why the confusion? Simple, the Broncos can't talk to Willis McGahee until the official personnel list is released by the NFL at around 4PM et this afternoon.

According to the Oregonian, Miami is signing former Panthers QB Matt Moore to a two-year deal worth $5M that could reach $7.5M with playing time incentives. Not sure how much this will figure in the Denver/Miami/Orton talks, but it has to count for something. As Klis confirms and has been pretty clear all along, the Orton deal has broken down due to Orton and Miami not agreeing on a contract - it wasn't about compensation to Denver. Meanwhile, Dave Hyde of the Sun-Sentinel says the deal is dead 'barring unforeseen circumstances.' Omar Kelly of the Miami Herald says Orton is seeking 'Kolb type money' from the Dolphins. NFL.com reports the Dolphins are still interested in Orton. That would be good news for Denver.NFL Network's Michelle Beisner reports the Dolphins never made an official trade offer for Kyle Orton. It's a good bet the two sides at least discussed the parameters of the deal, but it never graduated to the next step without a long-term contract agreement with Orton. We still don't believe we've heard the last of the Dolphins and Orton.

The Pats have released 6'5' 300 lb. DE Ty Warren; Ted Bartlett thinks he'd be a fit for Denver; he was a 4-3 DT at Texas A&M. Meanwhile, TJ thinks Warren would be a versatile piece for Dennis Allen's defense.

The Broncos have finalized the contract of Nate Irving. All 2011 draftees are now signed.

Matt Prater has signed his $1.835M tender. Like Matt Prater, Wesley Woodyard has also signed his $1.835M tender but cannot practice until Aug. 4. Can't say I knew this was a likelihood, but Ryan McBean is back with the team after signing an exclusive rights tender, they probably wanted him back as we couldn't get any DTs.

The Broncos' players voted unanimously to ratify the new CBA and recertify the NFLPA as a union

Brandon Mebane has decided to return to the Seahawks.

Linebacker Von Miller, the Broncos' first-round draft pick, limped slightly as he walked off the field with about an hour left in today's practice. After practice, head coach John Fox confirmed that Miller is day-to-day with a bruised quadricep. Later in practice, Carter took a ride on a cart across the field, but got up and walked under his own power into the locker room as well.

Luckily The two Broncos rookies who left practice early Friday with apparent injuries should return to the field soon. First-round pick Von Miller suffered a bruise, while safety Quinton Carter (a fourth-round pick) had “heat stress.” It was the first full practice for both players. Fox didn’t give a specific timeline for either player’s return, but neither malady is believed to be serious.

Orlando Franklin and Julius Thomas both were treated for cramps. The new guys better acclimate fast because temperatures are forecast to be in the 90s all weekend.

The Broncos have released RB Correll Buckhalter and TE Daniel Coats, and waived RB Mike McLaughlin. It was announced that Buckhalter would be let go on Monday, presumably for salary cap relief purposes; he was due to make $1.92M in salary and count for $2.47M against the salary cap. His release will provide the team with $1.47M in cap relief.

Check out DenverPost.com for a good analysis of today's camp.

So that is the skinny of it, let me know what you think. ~ Aussie

Broncos Report - Training Camp and Signings continue

Another day and still no DTs and Orton hasn't been traded. So yeah not sure what is doing with our Broncos. Hopefully we get some DTs in camp soon.

Broncos signed RB Willis McGahee to a four-year, $10 million contract. They're different terms than were reported Friday, but McGahee is nevertheless a Bronco. Set to turn 30 and coming off a season in which his production fell off dramatically, McGahee's best fantasy bet for 2011 is a repeat of his 2010, where he vultured a good amount of goal-line carries from Ray Rice

Broncos signed WR David Anderson, formerly of the Texans.Anderson can play special teams and was on GM Brian Xanders' radar last offseason when the Broncos approached him about a restricted free agent offer sheet. The 28-year-old slot receiver type is unlikely to see many snaps on offense.

Broncos released FS Renaldo Hill. Hill missed Thursday's practice with dehydration and was seen walking to the weight room instead of practicing Friday. In the meantime, second-rounder Rahim Moore has joined the starting lineup. Hill held his own at age 31 last season, but the Broncos weren't going to pay his $2.4 million salary.

Ty Warren, the former first-round draft pick who was released Friday by the New England Patriots, will visit the Broncos tonight, according to an NFL source. The Broncos have a defensive tackle position ready to be filled, and at 320-plus pounds Warren can fill it. Warren was a 5-technique defensive end in the Patriots’ 3-4 defense but he would fit as a nose/3-technique defensive tackle in the Broncos’ 4-3. Warren, 30, had 7 1/2 sacks 2006, but has battled injuries the past three seasons, including a hip injury that forced him to miss all of last season. A visit does not mean Warren will sign. The Broncos visited with three players Friday _ tight end Daniel Fells and defensive tackles Derek Landri and Jason Hatcher _ and all left without a contract, although the team will continue negotiating with each.

Free agent DT Marcus Thomas recently made a visit to visit club headquarters of an 'east coast team.'The team is unidentified. Thomas is best suited to play in a 4-3 defense, and the Broncos can offer that. Denver still has interest in re-signing him.Officially, it’s called a free-agent visit. The Broncos will bring unrestricted free agent Marcus Thomas, who played for them the previous four years, into Dove Valley headquarters for a visit.

Imagine the Broncos’ recruiting pitch: “Now over here, Marcus, is where you ate three meals a day for the past four years … ”’ Anyway, we can only assume Thomas is really coming in for a physical and to prove he’s in shape. At which, he would likely get a deal done to stay with the Broncos. -DenverPost.com

The Carolina Panthers released veteran defensive end Tyler Brayton on Friday. Brayton, a former University of Colorado slatwart, could be a fit with the Broncos as a versatile lineman who could back up Robert Ayers at left defensive end and play inside on passing downs. The 6-foot-6, 280-pound Brayton played the past three years for Broncos coach John Fox in Carolina. Brayton had a combined 9 1/2 sacks in 2008-09.

Louis Leonard and Kevin Vickerson are working as the Broncos' starting defensive tackles early in camp. The Broncos were reported to have set up Friday visits with Jason Hatcher and Derek Landri, but otherwise they haven't been taking their interior defensive line situation seriously all offseason. Leonard, a former undrafted free agent, has five career starts in four seasons and one career sack. This will remain a defense to target for fantasy running backs. - Rotoworld.com

The Miami Herald confirms that the Dolphins' attempts to trade for Kyle Orton are not over. The main stumbling block here appears to be Orton, who is entering the final year of his contract, agreeing to a new deal with the Dolphins. If the Broncos inform Orton that he won't be starting over Tim Tebow, perhaps he'll see an opportunity to beat out Chad Henne in Miami and lower his demands. We'll be hearing plenty more about this situation over the next week.

The Broncos will not release Kyle Orton, according to the Denver Post. The Broncos would owe Orton $2.9 million in salary on top of his $1.5 million roster bonus if they cut him. In other words, it's not happening. He's also wisely not willing to take a paycut on a long-term deal when he could simply hit the open market as a free agent next season. The Denver media continues to say a deal is dead while the Miami media says a trade is still very possible.

Andrew Mason is reporting that Tebow continues to struggle in training camp.  Brady Quinn participated ahead of him in one team drill today.   Is it fair to wonder if the Orton trade rumors affected him a lot more than Orton?

All rookies that were injured yesterday managed to participate today showing no signs of ill effects which is good. But I am still wondering what is going on? Hoping to have a few new DTs soon. ~ Aussie.

Broncos Day 7: Training Camp, Signings, News

Broncos Day 8: Training Camp A.M., Signings, News

The Broncos arrived back at Dove Valley earlier today on another hot sunny day, practicing in full pads once again.

Newly signed Bronco, TE Dante Rosario & DL Marcus Thomas who was re-signed yesterday were in attendance at the Monday morning practice but both did not participate. Rosario spent most of the morning by the side of Offensive Coordinator Mike McCoy going over tight end plays.

<< Mr. Yummy & his guns!!

For the 3rd consecutive practice, DJ Williams sat out the session to what is now a hamstring injury. I hope its not too serious as this defense does not need anymore injured players. I rid this team of the injury bug once & for all!!!!!! Watching the practice from the sidelines as well was RB Lendale White, who has yet to practice during this training camp & sat out the morning practice due to back spasms

There was some 'friendly' trash-talking going on between the offense & defense today as an entire team drill was spent on the running game. Knowshon Moreno found a gap or two and made it into the secondary but the first team defense pretty much held their own and shut the RB's down causing some friendly fire

Rookie Rahim Moore has been looking more & more solid with each practice. He had another rewarding day as he & Moreno met helmet-to-helmet on multiple occasions, with Moore winning the battles. His defensive teammates were there to applaud him for his efforts.

In some not-so-good news for Tebow fans, Kyle Orton was working with the first team offense for most of the morning session and looked okay till the defense got payback. Joe Mays intercepted a pass that was intended for Eddie Royal and had a little celebration, Champ Bailey must've felt left out because he picked the ball back up and spiked it again.

For now, it looks like Orton will be taking first team reps in training camp but I think they will be traded off as to who practices with the first team. I think it's safe to say that we do have a Tebow vs. Orton battle going on. I'll believe the 'Orton is being traded' rumors when something is sign, sealed & delivered. For now, they're just rumors. (Aussie - I also read something from Andrew Mason, he said that Jake Delhomme was a terrible practice player, but he got it done on Sunday's, so there is still hope for Tebow)

Overall, sounds like our defense had a pretty good morning. For the second day in a row, Syd'Quan Thompson got his 2nd INT from a pass by Tebow. I hope to see A LOT more of Squid on our defense this year. The kid is an INT magnet.

Broncos Report - Not much doing...Wrong

Well everyone the Broncos are having the day off so there is not much news to report on. But this is what I do have...

Huge news today! I was so wrong...Broncos agreed to terms with DL Ty Warren on a two-year, $10 million contract! The contract suggests Warren will be installed as a starter, likely next to Broderick Bunkley on the inside in Denver's 4-3 scheme. Both players come with medical red flags two years removed from standout seasons defending the run. Rotoworld projects the revamped defense to be one of the softest for opposing running backs, we believe differently. This defense will be a solid unit this year and improve greatly, Von-Doom!

Ryan Harris, the Broncos' starting right tackle since the start of the 2008, has agreed to sign with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Broncos visited with Harris on Tuesday and thought they had a good chance to sign him. But Harris decided it would be a better career move to get a fresh start elsewhere, especially a team that's been a perennial playoff contender. And yes the Eagles are signing EVERYBODY, they got Ronnie Brown too.

The Browns nullified the Brodrick Bunkley trade due to medical concerns, a source tells the Cleveland Plain Dealer. It was originally reported that Bunkley refused to report to Cleveland, but that apparently isn't the case. The medical red flag and/or failed physical likely relates to the elbow injury that plagued the former first-round pick last season. Regardless, the Broncos were willing to give up a conditional 2013 pick for Bunk.

The Broncos have moved LB Mario Haggan back to his natural strong-side linebacker spot. The Broncos toyed with the idea of using Haggan at defensive end, but newly acquired Derrick Harvey will be the swing end behind Elvis Dumervil and Robert Ayers. Now Haggan is pegged as first-round rookie Von Miller's backup on the strong side and the No. 3 middle 'backer behind Joe Mays and Nate Irving.

The Denver Broncos today announced the release of rookie defensive tackle Colby Whitlock. An undrafted free agent from Texas Tech, Whitlock made the AP's All-Big 12 First Team last year and tied for 16th in the conference in tackles. He started 49 consecutive games for the Red Raiders, and ended his career with the longest active streak amongst the team.

This guy is a massive Broncos and Elway fan.

Zach Miller is leaving for the Hawks, the raiders season could be over before it starts. :)

Also here is the video of Matt 'Ninja' Willis on NINJA WARRIOR! Here it is again!

Wait, here it is once again! Willis, legend.

That is it for now, probably not going to be much else going on today, check back tomorrow for more news from training camp. ~ Aussie.

Broncos Report - Training Camp and Tebow is done...pfft

Lets get to this Tebow is done in Denver story first...

'The Broncos are not going to trade Kyle Orton and he will be their starting quarterback, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. And with that, the Tim Tebow hype machine comes to a screeching halt. Schefter knows the Broncos better than anyone after serving as a beat writer there and is unlikely to be bluffed by their front office. It appears that the deal with the Dolphins truly is dead.'

'NFL Network's Michael Lombardi believes Tim Tebow is 'ultimately' not in the Broncos' plans. Lombardi reported at least twice this past offseason that Tebow lacks support in the front office. Lombardi concedes that many in Denver denied his report. The Broncos were shopping Kyle Orton heavily just one week ago, which suggests a belief in Tebow. If last year's first rounder is no longer in the team's plans, then the front office has changed its mind on the direction of the franchise after one week of no-pads practice.'

'Speaking on NFL Network Wednesday afternoon, Michael Lombardi confirmed an ESPN report that Kyle Orton 'will be the starter in Denver.' NFL Network introduced the Lombardi segment by stating that Orton has already been told he's the starter. 'He will not be traded,' Lombardi emphasized, echoing Adam Schefter's report. The Broncos have done a 180 in one week, perhaps in an attempt to quell any negative feedback from the legion of Tebow supporters.'

Let me being, are you high? To say that the Broncos have given up on Tebow after 5 DAYS is ludicrous. Nothing has changed, Orton was the starter going into camp and is still the starter, for now. This view has not changed since Fox and Elway said that Orton was at the top of the depth chart months ago. We all knew he was the starter. But to say that the Broncos have given up on Tebow and is not in Broncos plans is frankly stupid.

There are 4 preseason games to be played and Tebow will see a lot of action in those games, as will most of the other QBs. There is every chance that Orton tanks and Tebow succeeds. Or Orton may get injuried. There is the possiblilty that other teams QBs get hurt or bomb out and they may need Orton (hello 'Fins and 'Skins).

There is also the chance that Orton could start the season (even play the whole season) to let Tebow develop to be ready to come in when it is his time. Remember talented players are not just forgotten, good teams develop them. Plus talent doesn't just disappear. Confidence and Attitude do. Take Randy Moss as an example, always uber talented but didn't always have the right attitude. For Tebow I believe he has been lacking confidence the last few days and is working himself into the grind of training camp. As we saw today he was much improved in camp.

Other Training Camp notes:

Newly acquired defensive tackle Brodrick Bunkley jumped right into the mix. In his first practice, No. 77 joined the starting defensive line alongside Kevin Vickerson and ends Elvis Dumervil and Robert Ayers.

Linebacker D.J. Williams, running back Lendale White (back) and wide receiver Demaryius Thomas did not participate.

Tebow found receiver Ninja Willis (I have renamed him as this is way cooler) over the middle, who did a spin move that left two defensive backs running into each other and raced all the way down to the 32-yard line before going out of bounds. The sideline was jacked up as Moreno and Lloyd chased Willis back down the sideline with Lloyd giving the American Ninja Warrior a flying Ninja kick to the back.

Cornerback Syd’Quan Thompson seems to have an interception almost every practice, this one coming on a ball thrown by Quinn as Thompson jumped the route.

Cornerback Cassius Vaughn got first team reps opposite Champ Bailey during the very last team session to end practice.

Alas, training camp giveth and training camp taketh away. While Mario Fannin showed the good stuff, he also put the ball on the ground during a goal-line drill after a quality hit from safety David Bruton. Ball security was the biggest question surrounding Fannin leading up to the draft and it will determine how much he can get himself into the Broncos offense. It will bear watching in the preseason games.

Also Rod Smith was at camp today, he spent a great deal of time talking to John Elway.

For some fun, I am after your best Caption for this photo, give me your best. Also look out for some Tebow guns. When he gets them out from under his sleeves we will have some fun haha.

That is it from me. ~ Aussie.

Broncos Report - News and little else

There is not much news coming out of Dove Valley these days as the Broncos roster is pretty much set and we are preparing for our first game against Dallas. Anyway here is the news that I do have.

The players have agreed to the new CBA and it is now officially signed off. This means players like Prater and Woodyard are now able to practice with the team. It is interesting to note that under the new deal players will be able to be HGH tested. The NFL and NFLPA entered round-the-clock negotiations Saturday. They emerged five days later with a deal that makes the NFL the first major U.S. professional sports league to use blood testing for human growth hormone, according to a source. The NFL will be allowed to check each player annually for HGH -- but only after the union is confident in the way testing and appeals will work. The possibility of using an independent arbirtrator remains in play.

This is interesting because a while back a report came out that about 40% of players had used something and were cheats. We believed that it probably was a lot less then this, at most 10%. But it will be interesting to see how many players get caught.

Training camp continues for the Broncos, they had a walk through this morning. It will be interesting to see if newly signed players will be at this evenings practice. Yes Ty Warren is at practice tonight. DJ Williams seems to be back training again.

The Broncos on Thursday waived cornerback Chevis Jackson. The move made room for defensive lineman Ty Warren on the 90-man roster. Jackson was awarded to the Broncos off waivers from New England on Dec. 20, 2010.

John Lynch was at practice today and spent some time talking to Elway. And LenDale White is still out with back spasms.

The Saints, Broncos, and Cardinals are all showing interest in free agent OLB Matt Roth. Roth has been adamant about not playing in a 4-3 defense, which would seem to rule out New Orleans and Denver. (Barring a change of heart, of course.) Roth would make a lot more sense in Arizona if the Cardinals hadn't kept Joey Porter. Perhaps the Cards would reconsider Porter's fate if they acquired Roth.

That is all for now, if other news happens I will put it up. ~ Aussie.

He's back...

More stuff about Tebow:

Yesterday I said 'There is also the chance that Orton could start the season (even play the whole season) to let Tebow develop to be ready to come in when it is his time. Remember talented players are not just forgotten, good teams develop them. Plus talent doesn't just disappear. Confidence and Attitude do. Take Randy Moss as an example, always uber talented but didn't always have the right attitude. For Tebow I believe he has been lacking confidence the last few days and is working himself into the grind of training camp.'

John Bena over at MHR had this to add. It may mean Tebow also doesn't have the correct attitude at the moment too. No confidence and doesn't have the correct attitude it doesn't surprise me that Tebow is struggling early. But if he regains that back we may start to see Tebow improve and move forward. I can see it happening after Tebow has some good game time. Until then we may have to be patient and hope Tebow starts moving in the right direction.

Also I am starting to buy into the theory, that was started over at IAOFM, that the Orton trade talks effected Tebow more than the rest of the team.

Broncos Report: Stadium Scrimmage & Shannon Sharpe - Hall of Famer

First order of business is FINALLY congratulating THE Shannon Sharpe on being officially inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame Saturday night. He gave such an amazing, inspirational, emotional speech with of course a few comical spots. It wouldn't have been a Shannon Sharpe speech without some laughs. Can't say how awesome it is to see another Bronco get the recognition & respect he so rightfully deserves. Mile High Salute to you #84!

As for the current Broncos, it was scrimmage day at INVESCO Field in the heart of Denver.

For starters, Knowshon Moreno had a kicka

Broncos Report: NFL Rule Changes, Other News

I take it there was no practice today, I haven't heard if there was so till then just some little news.

The NFL announced today changes that will be made starting this season.

First off, is kickoffs will now start at the 35-yard line instead of the 30 - the team cannot line up more than 5 yards behind the 35. The result of this is to hopefully cut back on player injuries - reasoning is most kickers will try to put in the endzone or out of bounds with the hopeful result of less players trying to catch the ball and run for extra yards out of the endzone.

This next rule is one I REALLY disagree with, BIG TIME.

#2: Coaches can now NO longer challenge scoring plays, this includes touchdowns, field goals, safeties & point after a TD). So for instance, say we are playing the Raiders and their receiver catches the ball but it looks like he didn't have both feet in bounds, or full possession of the ball - the coaches can't challenge the call. Rather, every scoring play will be reviewed in the replay booth and the ref gets to make the call, the coaches get no input. Absurd.

The NFL's reasoning for this - to make the game more fair. Fair?? They call that fair? I may be overreacting but I think the coach should get a say, if necessary.

Straight from DB, here's how they word it. I find this explanation kind of confusing. 'Immediately following all scoring plays, the referee will hold action until he receives a message of ‘confirmed’ or ‘under review’ on his pager. If the score is under review, the procedure will mirror the current review process where the referee and replay official will work together to determine the correct call.'

And now the icing on the cake for this rule - if a coach even tries to challenge the ref's call, that team gets a 15-YARD PENALTY!

Am I the only one who thinks that is just uncalled for??

Rule #3:

Another rule that will probably end up controversial. I see plenty of incidents happening with this. The rule is that contact with the quarterback's head will no longer be penalized, unless it is a 'forcible blow'. If it's incidental, it's basically excused. Referees won't throw a flag for 'roughing the passer' if a defender grazes the QB's helmet. No penalty will be enforced unless it is an obvious, intentional hit to the head.

Rule #4:

This one is for the comic books. Ahem... 'Playing surface must be a league-approved shade of green' - to preserve the uniform appearance of the NFL. (Enter laughter)

Rule #5:

The definition of 'launching' has been updated. There will be a 15-yard, unnecessary roughness penalty & possible ejection from the game if any player 'leaves both feet to spring upward & forward to deliver a hit'.

Rule #6:

The definition of a 'defenseless player' has been updated. There will be a 15-yard, unnecessary roughness penalty for players deemed 'defenseless', which now includes the 'QB right after he throws a pass, a player who has not had time to protect himself after attempting to make a catch, a runner who's forward progress has been stopped, a player on the ground at the end of a play, a kicker or punter who is not engaged, a kick or punt returner fielding a kick in the air & players who receiver blindside blocks'.

Rule #7:

I thought there was a penalty for this already but maybe it wasn't this steep before? Horsecollar tackles will draw a 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty. Starting this season, horsecollar tackles will continue to be illegal & will be flagged, regardless if the player is taken down to the ground or not.

Rule #8:

'Runners and tacklers will be penalized equally for grasping and twisting an opponent’s facemask'. This will draw a 15-yard facemask penalty, on runners & tacklers not just defenders.

Bronco News:

LT Ryan Clady has confirmed his knee is back to 100% after injuring it last season. Some good news. Our O-line really needs him.

Just for grins:

Last night's Hall of Fame Enshrinement for Shannon Sharpe not only got HOF QB John Elway to be in attendance but reunited several players from the Broncos '97 & '98 Super Bowl teams, as well as former GM John Beake & current owner since '84, Pat Bowlen. The former players in attendance included: Rod Smith, Ed McCaffrey, HOF brother Gary Zimmerman, Tony Jones, Mark Schlereth, Terrell Davis, Alfred Williams, Ray Crockett, Steve Atwater, Keith Burns & Dwayne Cars, among many others.

So nice to see that former teammates came out to support Shannon on such a big night and witness that great moment for him. Just had to mention this.

And that's all folks!

Preseason Game 1: Broncos Vs Cowboys Preview

The Broncos first preseason game will be this Thursday against the ever popular Cowgirls. First we will look at the news and the 'current' depth chart. Then I will list points of interest that you should be looking for in the first game.

The DenverPost has a article up about the offensive line and its struggles.

Another article about Julius Thomas and his success running with the first team, was interesting to note that he was fifth on the depth chart.

Here is the Broncos Depth Chart from DP.

Depth Chart:

Lets take a look at the depth chart and look at some points of interest. The QBs are Orton, Tebow, Quinn and Weber. Did you expect anything different? This may or may not change over the course of the preseason.

LenDale White is among the top four running backs at the moment. If he plays well he should avoid the cut.

Royal is ahead of Decker as the number two, I think this may change so Royal can play the slot position. Also my boy Ninja Willis is the number two behind Lloyd and in the top four receivers. Hopefully he can stay healthy.

There is a log-jam at TE with the two rookies at the bottom, I have a feeling this is more out of respect for the vets. I expect the two rookies to make the roster.

Defense is pretty set. Irving is third string at the moment (behind Mays and Haggan) and is likely to move up over the preseason with good play.

Cassius Vaughn is the number two cornerback behind Champ. That means he is the nickel corner taking Squids position. This may change with good play by Squid but will be interesting to watch.

The Game:

As per this article the first team players are only expected to play a few series. As such we won't be seeing much of the starters so don't expect a lot out of them. But try to focus on the rookies that start with the number ones and how they play.

I would like to see Larsen get the ball a bit. And Ninja Willis get a few grabs.

Look at the TE and MLB position battles. See what Green and Thomas can do. Then the battle between Mays and Irving.

It will be interesting to see what Quinton Carter can do. I look to see him get a serious amount of playing time.

Of course remember to check out the QBs. See if Tebow pulls it together or if Quinn is playing better.

Oh and that everyone stays healthy!

Well that is it. We will do a post game review and I would like to get your views and opinions on the game and players. Well enjoy the game ~ Aussie.

Broncos Vs Cowboys - Post Game Review

Hey everyone, I was unable to follow the game, but I have seen as much as I can and followed along on a number of other sites. Which means I will need to defer to all your views and opinions on the game. But below is the views that I got.

Start with QBs. Orton was solid, his stats meant not show it but he was good, failed in the redzone though. Tebow was good, started off poorly but settled in nicely. He didn't go past his first read much and probably run a little too much, but he put in the effort and wanted to make plays. Quinn was very much the same as Tebow, started off shaky but settled down nicely. Made a number of nice plays, problem was it was against the 3rd teamers.

Running backs were good, Knowshon and Willis were great. Ball and White struggled but they were behind the terrible 2nd string O-line. Johnson looked real nice too.

Wide Receivers all looked nice and put in work. Was unlucky for Mark Dell who got injured in the game. As such he was waived/injured, to fill his roster spot the Broncos picked up Greg Orton.

Starting O-Line was good, the backups terrible.

The defense I thought seemed much improved. Hunter was trying very hard, got two sacks. Problem was there is still Nate Jones on the team.

Cassius Vaughn started out really good, but he struggled a bit towards the end of the game. He tried very hard throughout the game.

Plus I didn't like how there were so many penalties. Got to tighten that up.

Also Tebow needs to get the guns out! Maybe he is keeping his secret weapons in reserve.

If there is something else you may have seen hit me up in the comments. ~ Aussie.

Broncos Report - Injuries and a few moves

Well the Broncos suffered a major blow today with the news on Ty Warren. An MRI revealed that DT Ty Warren has a tear in his triceps. It's a brutal blow to a defense that was already thin at DT. Warren was the Broncos' biggest acquisition in free agency, signing a two-year deal after getting cut by the Patriots. After suffering the tear Monday, the Broncos now must consider whether to place Warren on injured reserve. Brodrick Bunkley, who 'fizzled' out with the Eagles, is now the favorite to start next to Kevin Vickerson at defensive tackle.

The Broncos are going to wait a couple of days for the swelling to subside before determining how to proceed. Because it's not a full tear, the Broncos are clinging to hope they can put off surgery so Warren can play at some point this season. If it's determined surgery isn't necessary, it would take four to six weeks before Warren's triceps tear is re-evaluated.

Another defensive tackle, Marcus Thomas, has a strained (which means slight tear) in his right pectoral muscle. Thomas suffered the injury during a one-on-one drill Monday. He continued to practice for a while before leaving for the trainer's room. Thomas will be held out for the rest of preseason although the team hopes he can return about the time the regular season starts Sept. 12 against the Oakland Raiders on Monday night at what by then should be called Sports Authority Field at Mile High.

Interesting side note, what does everyone think of the new Stadium name?

Ronnell Brown and Eric Decker did not finish practice. Decker left due to a foot injury. I believe that Decker was just rested so his foot injury from last year doesn't flair up. Otherwise Richard Quinn sat out with a knee injury, Stanley Daniels was out with an ankle injury and Syd’Quan Thompson was still out with a groin injury.

The Broncos made a few moves today, first the Broncos released RB LenDale White. White had been in and out of practice with numerous nagging injuries, which is common for players trying to come back from torn Achilles' tendons. The 45th overall pick in the 2006 draft, White's career has bottomed out as an injury-plagued running back unable to outlast undrafted rookies like C.J. Gable and Brandon Minor. White hasn't played a snap since Week 17 of 2009. Also it was announced that the team waived linebacker A.J. Jones.

Interesting notes on positions, The starting defensive tackles Tuesday were Kevin Vickerson and Brodrick Bunkley. Behind the starting corps of D.J. Williams, Joe Mays and Von Miller, the second-string linebackers are Mario Haggan, Nate Irving and Wesley Woodyard. This means Haggan is no longer the no. 2 MLB it is Irving. But Haggan is now the no. 2 SLB meaning Mike Mohamed has been moved to third team.

This was on Rotoworld but I have read the idea in other places too. Rookie TE Virgil Green appears headed for the practice squad this year. Fourth-rounder Julius Thomas continues to steal the show with his 'over-the-goalpost upside,' but Green has been quiet in camp. The seventh-rounder will have to beat out Dan Gronkowski, Dante Rosario, and Richard Quinn for 1-2 spots behind Thomas and Daniel Fells. I believe we will keep 4 TEs this season. Quinn I can see getting cut or being placed on PUP to save a roster spot. Gronkowski may get a spot or could get cut, but he has been playing well. So it comes down to Rosario and Green. I say Rosario is cut and Green makes the roster. I just don't see Green staying on our practice squad for long if he is placed there. Someone else will take him.

That is all the news for now. Look out for a preview of this weeks game soon. ~ Aussie

Preseason Game 2: Broncos Vs Bill Preview

The Broncos take on the Bills this Saturday in the newly named Sports Authority Field at Mile High or SAFaMH. This will be the Broncos first home game of the year and hopefully I will be able to see this one! So let's get started and take a look at the news and the upcoming game.

First updating a previous item Broncos DT Ty Warren will undergo surgery Tuesday to repair his partially torn right triceps. So much for the hope that Warren could avoid surgery and play in 4-6 weeks. Now that he's going under the knife, Warren is expected to miss 3-6 months. It looks like we will have little choice but to place him on injured reserve, ending his season. They may try PUP but this is an injury that takes time.

In other injury news, Offensive linemen Ryan Clady and Orlando Franklin both practiced this morning after getting a little banged up yesterday. Syd’Quan Thompson was also back on the practice field. Hope to see Squid get some intercepts in Saturdays game.

Brandon Lloyd and Brian Dawkins did not participate — a team decision, Head Coach John Fox said — and watched from the sideline. Marcus Thomas (pectoral), Demaryius Thomas (Achilles), Richard Quinn (knee sprain), Stanley Daniels (ankle sprain) and Ronnell Brown (ankle sprain) also sat out practice.

The Game:

Now I am unsure how the game will be structured with the 1st, 2nd and 3rd teams. I believe the 1st team will see a bit more time in this game. May play the whole first quarter and a little bit in the second. I expect the 2nd team, with Tebow and Quinn sharing a bit in the second and third quarters. The 3rd team will play in the fourth with probably Quinn at QB and we may see some Weber late.

As always pay close addition to the QBs. See if there has been any improvement in their play. Watch Quinn closely and see if he throws bad balls, as in behind the receiver or too high, hospital balls. I have been hearing that Quinn has been doing well but he hasn't made it easy for his receivers. See if Tebow plays better than last week and continues to improve, he really wants a TD, plus get the guns out! Also hope/pray Orton can get the ball in the endzone.

Watch the new guys or the guys that missed last weeks game. As mentioned above I want to see Squid get a pick or two. But who I am really interested in is MLB Nate Irving. I want to see him run around and what he brings to the team.

Dareus is coming to Denver too, hopeful Von Miller shows Dareus why we past on him in the draft.

The team needs to show the basics, run the ball, stop the run and create a pass rush. These are things I like too see. Plus limit the penalties!

Other than that just got to pay addition to all the battles across the team. Who performs at RB, Safety, WR, etc.

As before we will review the game and the top performers. Hopefully I can give a better opinion after I see this game. ~ Aussie.

Broncos Vs Bill - Post Game Review

Hey everyone, I enjoyed the game, managed to catch most of it. Here are the notes that I took down from the game and the things I saw.

Beadles got dominated by Kyle Williams a few times.

There were a lot of screen plays with the first team offense.

By the way Lloyd is awesome.

Moreno is good and made a lot of good runs.

Orton was solid, made a number of good passes.

McGahee was a great buy, solid runner.

Blitzing looks good, Love DJ on the weakside.

Was great to see Miller trying to jump the snap, that shows confidence.

Did I mention I am loving our new Defense.

Doom and Miller are so fast off the edge, Miller especially.

Doom looks good against the run, shows he has improved in that area.

Moore is lighting people up! was a penalty but awesome. Here it is for review, click here. I thought it looked OK, he lead with the shoulder, Jones smacked his head hard on the ground, that is where I think the injury occurred. Moore I think was ejected. If Jones hadn't gotten hurt I think Moore gets a pass and play results in only a penalty.

DJ Williams made an intercept, was nice, did I say I love him at WLB?

Quinn did come in as the number 2 quarterback. Quinn did get to run a few players with the first team offensive players. Quinn's intercept wasn't entirely his fault but it was a bad ball. Most of Quinn's passes where out of reach, behind the player or in a difficult positions to catch. The last two passes Quinn did throw were perfect. The one to Decker was a great ball and then there was the touchdown pass to Davis, both very nice passes.

Don't believe what people say, Spencer Larsen can block. I saw him lay out more than his fair share of LBs.

Bunkley looked really good, I like him a lot.

Didn't see much from Irving today but he didn't play to much, had one good tackle.

Squid looked really good. I liked his play a lot.

What is this talk about us being a running team? All lies, how many passing yards did we have?

Cox = Fail haha, he had a few good returns but he struggled in coverage. Had that one good bat down at the end of the game.

The question I want to know is was Tebow set up to fail? Or what is the plan for him. I am unsure what our vision for Tebow is now. Though he should get lots of game time next week as the starters take a rest.

And we did see a bit of Weber late in the game.

What about kickoffs, so borrriinnngg! Not a single return all game. How long will it be before kickoffs are removed all together.

That is all I got from the game, did you guys see anything else or have a different opinion? hit us up in the comments. ~ Aussie.

Preseason Game 4: Cardinals Vs Broncos Preview

The end of preseason is finally here. Problem is we still have to go through cuts to get to the final roster. Which could mean that the Broncos may let go of a fan favourite. But what ever happens the Broncos will continue to move forward to the start of the regular season and the important games. This weeks' game is against the Cardinals and would be the Broncos second road game, having lost the first to Dallas. It would be good to see the Broncos get the win and keep that momentum for road games rolling. The Broncos play, like most other teams on Thursday night, with cut day soon after. It is expected that the starters will not play in this game with the backups getting all the reps. This will be the last chance for these players to impress and hopefully get a roster spot.

Let's get into it and start looking at this game and a free story lines. Early in the week the Broncos had to cut a few players to get the roster down to 80 as per league rules. The cuts are as follows:

Cornerback Nate Jones, released
LB Braxton Kelley, waived
LB Deron Mayo, waived
RB C.J. Gable, waived
OL Shawn Murphy, waived
OLCurt Porter, waived
DE David Veikune, waived

Broncos Vs Cardinals - Post Game Review

This weeks game was pretty dismal. Quinn had a terrible game and will probably be third string, he should be. Tebow was good I thought and he had that great touchdown pass. Looked really nice. There was a number of injuries as well to the team. Irving and Davis both got injured but should be OK. The worst injury was to Squid who unluckily blew out his Achilles and will be done for the year.

For me I didn't get to see much of the game. I did try to follow along and have an idea of what was going on.

Here are my thoughts on cuts:

The 3rd and 4th spots should be open for running backs. The 3 guys yesterday didn't show much. Minor was ok but I think we could get better veterans and wavier wire players then we currently got.

For the wide receivers I think it is pretty set. With Davis injured in the game Willis I think is pretty set for the spot. Anderson did not do much and Riley may be pushing for his spot with his play. May be a tough cut here.

Tight Ends did nothing so unsure what will happen here.

The back up OL should all be gone, lets get better players.

I am unsure about the defensive side of the ball, mainly the defensive line. I think Carter and Mohamed had a good game. Carter was probably the best defensive player. Mohamed was good against the run but struggled in coverage. Hunter was ok, so was Beal a bit. Cox struggled in coverage. What little we saw of Irving was good. Chris Harris was solid too.

Harris may now have a spot since Squid got injured. Cox looks like he has been saved from the cut too.

I am unsure about the safeties though. McBath made one great play but is that enough to save him from the cut? I am unsure.

That is all I have from the game. Maybe someone else has other views? ~ Aussie.

Game 1: Broncos Vs Raiders Preview

The first game of the Broncos 2011 season is not to far off. The first game the Broncos will be taking on our hated enemy. The one team we hate more than in-laws. The Jokeland Faiders, Gayiders, Traiders, yes that hated Raiders (FTR) squad put together by the Crypt keeper Al Davis. Words can't express how much I dislike this team.

The problem is that in recent times the Faiders have had it one up on our Broncos. Last year the Faiders went undefeated in the division and beat the Broncos twice. Plus there was Black Sunday, the worst day in Broncos history. The humiliating defeat still haunts the Broncos. 'It was just terrible,' Denver middle linebacker Joe Mays recalled. 'It's one of those things where you want to forget it, but it's still in the back of your head.'

Oakland's Darren McFadden, who rushed for a career-best 1,157 yards last year, ran for 165 yards and scored four touchdowns in Denver, while the offense racked up 508 yards. 'The veterans on the team talk about how they killed us last year,' Denver rookie pass-rusher Von Miller said. 'But this is a new year, we've got a new coach, new players and hopefully it'll be different this year.'

Most of Denver's problems stemmed from a defense that was last in the league in total yards (400.6 per game) and scoring (29.4). It also had an NFL-low 23 sacks and finished with the second-fewest interceptions at 10. Under Fox and new coordinator Dennis Allen, who is ditching former coach Josh McDaniels' 3-4 scheme for the traditional 4-3, the Broncos are feeling optimistic defensively because of the health of Elvis Dumervil and the arrival of Miller. Dumervil led the league with 17 sacks in 2009, but missed all of last season with a torn chest muscle. He should benefit from lining up opposite Miller, who was the second overall selection in the draft after collecting 27 1/2 sacks in his last two seasons at Texas A&M.

'Obviously we thought a lot of Von Miller to draft him in that spot and getting Elvis back is huge, both in the locker room as well as on the field,' Fox said. 'So, they're a pretty good little tandem.'

But a lot has changed since last year. Hue Jackson was named coach of the Oakland Raiders in the offseason after spending his first year with the team in 2010 directing a surprising offense. Oakland is coming off an 8-8 finish in 2010, ending seven straight years of at least 11 losses. The Raiders were the lone NFL team to finish 6-0 within their division, but it wasn't enough to save Tom Cable's job, and Jackson was named coach in January. 'I expect to win here,' Jackson said. 'And 8-8 doesn't cut it for me. I'm not interested in being 8-8. I'm interested in being great.'

It will be hard for Jackson to make this team great with the number of top talented players that have left through free agency. Zach Miller, Nnamdi Asomugha, Robert 'Dirty Chop Block' Gallery to name a few. They have solid running back core and defensive line. But they have a week OL, suspect player at QB and in the secondary so it could be a long year for the Traiders.

The Broncos on the other hand are improving though. A solid draft (Miller, Moore, Franklin) and the return of players from injury (Doom!) has set the Broncos up nicely. Depth is still an issue as is the DT problem and stopping the run. But hopefully the Broncos can overcome this problem. Also Bunk returned to training from his injured knee so he may be able to go against the Faiders.

The Raiders have lost 11 straight prime-time games since Nov. 28, 2004, when they defeated the Broncos 25-54 on a Sunday night in Denver. This will be a tough and close game, they usually are against the Faiders. I am going to pick a close game, say 24-14, Broncos for the win of course.

Defensive end Jason Hunter wanted a number that made him look like a defensive end. Linebacker Wesley Woodyard wanted Ray Lewis’ No. 52. So the players swapped jersey numbers, official as of Friday. Hunter will now wear No. 90, while Woodyard has ditched the No. 59 he has worn here since he arrived in 2008. Woodyard was particularly excited Friday afternoon when he learned the change was official.

Injury Report:

Denver second-year receiver Demaryius Thomas didn’t practice Friday. He came back this week after rupturing his Achilles in February. He is on the right track, but there is no timetable for his return. Brodrick Bunkley (knee) right guard Chris Kuper (toe), wide receiver Matthew Willis (toe), safety Quinton Carter (hamstring) and safety David Bruton (shoulder), and all were listed as full participants in Friday’s practice. Among those expected to be ruled out are defensive tackles Marcus Thomas and Ty Warren and linebacker D.J. Williams, each of whom has not practiced this week.

With Kevin Boss still not practicing, it is looking more and more like Brandon Myers is primed to be Oakland’s starting tight end at Denver on Monday night.

Jokes:

Q: If you were stuck in a cage with a lion, jaguar and a raider fan and you had a gun with two bullets what should you do?
A: Shoot the Faider fan twice.

A: Gifted.

Game 2: Broncos Vs Bengals Preview

After week one's lose to the Faiders the Broncos take on the Bengals in week two at home. Hopefully from last week the Broncos have learnt some valuable lessons on what it is going to take to win as a team. They need to focus on staying disciplined and not causing unnecessary penalties, they had 10 against the Faiders. This will need to be cleaned up and the team must start working as a unit to make it anywhere this season.

The Broncos also need to pick up they effort across the board. The O-Line is going to have to be on their game and open up holes for the running backs as it looks like Moreno probably won't be playing. The Bengals have an underrated D-Line which may cause some problems for our offense. Orton needs to bounce back and have a good game. He needs to complete passes and avoid sacks as the Bengals have two good DEs. I don't blame Orton for losing the game against the Faiders. I blame him for not winning the game. He will need to step it up and throw a few touchdown passes or those calls for Tebow will only get louder. I believe we probably won't see Tebow till after week 8 and it depends on our record. If we are below .500 I think Tebow will get the start. So if we are 1-7, 2-6, 3-5 Tebow gets the start. If 4-4 I think Orton becomes week to week depending on his results.

On the Defense I would like more of the same. They need to hold that middle better but they did ok in the first game. They should see a lot of Benson and will need to hold him to under 100 yards if they want to win. But there should be a fair bit more passing from the Bengals than we saw against the Faiders. Andy Dalton has been struggling with an wrist injury but he is on track to be back and should start. Miller needs to get in the back field and say hello to him a few times. Some sacks and turnovers would be nice too.

The Injury Report:

Champ Bailey (hamstring), Elvis Dumervil (shoulder), Brandon Lloyd (groin), Knowshon Moreno (hamstring), Demaryius Thomas (finger), Marcus Thomas (shoulder/groin), Ty Warren (triceps) and D.J. Williams (elbow) did not participate in Thursday’s practice. All probably won't play come Sunday. Dumervil may see limited action but expect Hunter to start in his place. With Bailey out it will put extra pressure on the other corners. They will need to step it up and have a good game.

The team could call up running back Jeremiah Johnson from the practice squad if Moreno can't play. The team has two wide receivers - Eron Riley, the preseason receiving leader, and D'Andre Goodwin - on the practice squad, if Lloyd is not available.

That is it from me, hopefully we can get a win, Go Broncos! ~ Aussie.
